By Grace Through Faith I Stand (Poem)
By Grace Through Faith I Stand
Empty me of pride
In both it's fatal forms
That through success I might win you
Or by floundering make you scorn
Tis’ neither through stern resolve
Nor by lackadaisical plight
That you make the rebel your son,
And turn the calloused contrite
By grace alone I stand
In a righteousness unwrought by me
It cannot be lost by deeds or thoughts
Tis’ priceless, yet given for free
Pride would have me earn your love
Self-focus would have me doubt
Sin would keep me in the grave
But grace shall bring me out
